Many E.L.F. cosmetics are $1 each, the E.L.F. team claims the entire line contains no gluten ingredients, and they also say that these are luxury cosmetics that give professional results. The mineral line contains no parabens, preservatives or chemical dyes. So I thought I would buy some of their products, test them and see how well they actually perform! Here’s what I found:

I bought the Matte Lip Color in Natural and Nearly Nude, very similar colors, I like these lipsticks quite a bit, they have pretty good staying power and are very matte which you need for certain ‘looks’. The Lip Balm SPF 15 is great,  as well as the Jumbo Lip Gloss Stick in Pink Umbrella, which is $1 and very similar to Clinique’s Chubby Sticks!

E.l.f. Blushes are designed very similar to the Nar’s Blush with similar packaging, the colors are fantastic, they’re not as pigmented as other blushes, but overall I would buy them again, I have the colors Candid Coral and Twinkle Pink, I love the Coral shade.

The brushes are great for the price, the black ones that retail for $3, are super soft.

E.l.f. High Definition Powder works great, and is very similar to the Smashbox Setting Powder. It’s an unbelievable deal.

The Eyeliners are ok, I probably wouldn’t re-buy them.

Eyelid Primer: My new essential, I didn’t think I would like the stick formula, but I love it, finally a replacement for Urban Decay’s coveted Eyelid Primer (which contains gluten unfortunately:()

The Eyeshadows are good. I love the colors in the Flawless Eyeshadow, Golden Goddess set, they are not as pigmented as more expensive brands but when you use them with the Eyelid primer they work quite well.

The Zit Zapper has some great ingredients, and gently fights acne, I like the roller ball design.

Absolute Favorites:

The Lip Exfoliator–  I no longer have an excuse for flaky lips because this stick works so well, I love that its shaped like a lipstick, it contains among other things, avocado oil, sugar, grapeseed oil, and jojoba oil.

The Eye Primer Stick– I mentioned this already, it works great, love it.

Mineral Infused Face Primer– I’ve been using this a lot, and it’s such a steal at $6, very similar to the extremely expensive luxury ones I’ve tried before.

E.l.f. High Definition Powder– Great for setting your makeup and eliminating shine, $6!

These are the products I seem to use the most. There is a place for beauty cheapies like these, especially when compared to department store products that cost 100xs more but contain almost the exact same ingredients. Let me know what E.L.F. products you like, and what products you feel it’s worth spending more on, I’d love to hear from you all! xx..
