Avene has informed Gluten Free Cheri, that their skin care products are indeed gluten free…! If  you go to their website you will also see ‘gluten free’ on their homepage in the top right hand corner. Yes ladies, the entire range is gluten free. I personally was thrilled to hear this since all of their products are developed with sensitive skin in mind. They have a very engaging story on their website here, about how the brand actually came about. (It involves a horse, the Great Fire of Chicago, and the town Avene, located in South West France;))

An Avene product I particularly love and use, all.the.time. is from the Antirougeurs line, the Redness Relief moisturing protecting emulsion. This facial lotion is for the most sensitive of skins, formulated with a minimal number of ingredients, and tinted a light minty green colour. It comes in a cream formula for dry skin, or the emulsion formula which is for normal to combination skin, the later formula of which is particularly handy since a lot of redness relief creams tend to be for dry, rosacea ridden skin types, and can be too thick for oily/acne prone skin types that are also prone to sensitivity/redness.The Thermal Spring Water is also lovely to spray on face and neck before bed or in the morning to soothe the skin.

If you are suffering a major skin ‘freakout’ or reaction, you may find La Roche Posay’s Cicaplast Baume B5 a good product, this is also a gluten free product according to a rep at the company we spoke with. This balm is actually designed to hydrate and soothe the skin following minor dermatological procedures, but we’ve heard it’s also very good for dry skin, and skin that is inflamed from rosacea or acne. It has an antibacterial texture, and is enriched with ingredients such as, Panthenol, Madecassoside, Copper, Zinc, Manganese and Shea butter. We’ve also heard that it makes an excellent primer as it smooths out the skin nicely, giving an even base for makeup.

I hope these gluten free lotions formulated for extra sensitive skin help with any skin SOS issues you may have. What have you guys found to help when your skin is extra sensitive? I would love to hear your recommendations in the comment box below.
